The "animate" Method

Next Slide

TO PERFORM ANIMATIONS WE NEED A WAY TO GET THE COMPUTER TO REPEATEDLY EXECUTE INSTRUCTIONS WITHOUT ANY HUMAN INTERVENTION.

  • IF YOU INCLUDE A DEFINITION FOR A METHOD NAMED "animate" IN AN APPLET, THE BROWSER WILL INVOKE IT REPEATEDLY.

  • YOU CAN CONTROL HOW OFTEN "animate" IS INVOKED BY ASSIGNING A VALUE TO THE NAME "animateFrequency".
 public void animate( ) {
      sheep = sheep  + 1;
      pen.clearRect();
      pen.drawString(sheep + " sheep");
 }
YOUR BROWSER DOES NOT SEEM TO KNOW ABOUT APPLETS Applet Source code
