Digital Signatures? SECRET KEY ENCRYPTION PROVIDES A FORM OF "SIGNATURE" FOR ELECTRONIC MESSAGES THAT ENSURES AUTHENTICITY. ASSUME ALICE AND BOB SOMEHOW EXCHANGE A SECRET KEY. IF ALICE RECIEVES A MESSAGE AND IS ABLE TO DECRYPT IT USING THE SECRET KEY SHE CAN ASSUME BOB SENT IT. THESE "SIGNATURES" AREN'T QUITE AS USEFUL AS TRADITIONAL SIGNATURES. ALICE CAN'T CONVINCE ANYONE ELSE THAT BOB SENT THE MESSAGE.
