IP ROUTING AN IP ROUTER FIRST LOOKS AT THE NETWORK PART OF A PACKET'S DESTINATION ADDRESS. IF ROUTER IS ON THE DESTINATION NETWORK, PACKET IS SENT DIRECTLY TO THE DESTINATION. OTHERWISE, PACKET IS SENT TO IP SOFTWARE ON AN ADJACENT ROUTER.
