MESSAGE SWITCHING BECOMES PACKET SWITCHING IF "LOGICAL" MESSAGES ARE BROKEN UP INTO SMALLER UNITS WHOSE SIZES ARE CONVENIENT FOR THE NETWORK BEFORE TRANSMISSION.

ADVANTAGES:

  • TIME DIVISION MULTIPLEXING WORKS BETTER.
  • LESS INFORMATION NEEDS TO BE RESENT IF AN ERROR OCCURS.
  • MULTIPLE ROUTES CAN BE USED TO SPEED DELIVERY.
  • MESSAGES MAY ARRIVE FASTER EVEN ON A SINGLE ROUTE.
