Associating Names with Components

Next Slide

ONE CAN INSTRUCT JAVA TO ASSOCIATE A NAME WITH A COMPONENT BY USING AN ASSIGNMENT STATEMENT IN A METHOD:

	public void begin() {

		horizControl = new Slider( 50, 0, 199);
		vertControl = new Slider( 50, 0, 199);
		...
	}

("begin" IS A METHOD WHOSE INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE FOLLOWED WHEN AN APPLET FIRST BEGINS WORKING -- i.e. WHEN THE PAGE IT IS ON IS VISITED)
