**Continuity Editing Assignment**
- Individual homework
- Available Feb 11
- Due Feb 16 on paper in class
Powerful as particular film images can be, much of their force is
derived from the narrative context in which they appear. Following
the example of Katz in Ch. 7, print **three** copies of the
[film frames from _Psycho_](psycho.png), cut them out, and then
rearrange them to suggest a scene from three different movies--—a
comedy, a drama, and a horror film.
Use five of the six stills for each story (likely, a different five
for each scenario), treating each one as a single shot. Don't be
afraid to leap boldly in connecting your images. When you're done,
paste up each of new stories onto sheets of paper, along with a punchy
75-word version of each story and a few sentences explaining why the
ordering that you chose is effective (or where it falls apart). Be
sure to label each scenario and put your name on your work.
As always, you're welcome to negotiate the form of the assignment with
us.
