I am wondering whether original copies of the photos that were provided in the lab 2 folder (the plates and the backgrounds) need to be included on the gallery page or whether just photos that were scanned and our class photos need to be placed there.

No, the only originals we want to see are the original version of the picture we took of you which you edited (you can just make a link to our copy of the image, but we want it to be easily accessible from your page) and the original of the image you scanned in.
