Jeannie Albrecht is a Professor and Chair of the Computer Science Department at Williams College, and an Adjunct Professor in the Computer Science Department at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her research focuses broadly on computer systems, including distributed systems, mobile and wide-area networks, and operating systems, with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, and sustainability. Her recent work involves instrumenting buildings with sensors and devices for monitoring and displaying energy consumption, to ultimately help occupants live more sustainably. She received a PhD in Computer Science from UC San Diego in 2007, an MS in Computer Science from Duke University in 2003, and a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science from Gettysburg College in 2001. Jeannie is a 2009 recipient of a National Science Foundation CAREER Award. She was born and raised in Baltimore, MD, and now lives in Williamstown, MA with her husband, seven year old son, four year old daughter, and dog.
