Williams College Computer Science Department

Computer Science

Williams College

Summary

Williams provides a high quality Computer Science program that can meet the needs of a wide variety of students. In just the last several years we have had students admitted to such top computer science graduate schools as M.I.T., Carnegie-Mellon University, Yale University, Cornell University, CalTech, Stanford, University of California-Berkeley, New York University, University of Washington, University of Wisconsin, University of Rochester, and the University of Massachusetts. Other students have been gone on to business and medical schools, while still others have found varied computer-related jobs in government, computer and other industries, and consulting firms. Finally, we have had many students who pursued the computer science major simply because it interested them, while later attending graduate school or pursuing careers in areas at most tangentially related to computing. We feel that we have a lot to offer to students with any of these goals.

We hope that this informal introduction to the department has been helpful to you and has answered many of your questions (hopefully including some that you hadn't thought of). If you have unanswered questions, please contact the department chair, or any other member of the department for further information. We would also be interested in any comments you might have on this brochure, especially in ways in which it could be improved to provide more information to you.
