Course catalogs are very useful in providing certain kinds of information about a department and its courses. However, being formal documents, they cannot give the sort of informal guidance about courses that students really need. This guide is an attempt to give some of the same advice to students that we typically give when they come to our offices to discuss Computer Science.
- Courses Offered. Includes descriptions of all
the courses regularly offered by the department. This section also
discusses placement in our introductory courses.
- Program for Majors. Describes the requirements for
students majoring in computer science and provides advice on selecting
and scheduling courses.
- Advice for Non-majors. Discusses options for
students interested in some form of "minor" concentration in
computer science.
- Research opportunities in Computer Science.
Presents examples of ways in which students can become involved in
computer science research including honors theses and summer
opportunities.
- Computing facilities.
To help you locate the information you are seeking, a
table of contents is available.
This document cannot possibly answer all of your questions. If you cannot
find the information you need, here, don't hesitate to ask any member of
the department or call directly at (413) 597-3218.
